It took me 2 hours, 21 minutes, 45 seconds to run the Navy Air Force Half Marathon this morning. That means I averaged 10:49 per mile although I definitely was slower (11 min +) in the beginning and middle. According to the runkeeper app on my phone, the last two miles were about 9:40 minutes per mile. The race started at 7 and per the
Capitol Hill weather station the temperature was 70.7 °F while the dew point was 70 °F. It was
really moist for the first hour. The humidity got a bit better toward the end as the temperature rose.
Once again I'm grateful to live where I do. Pre- and post-race logistics were so easy with a leisurely 15 minute pedal to get home. Compared to the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler this spring I ran a slower pace. I ran 10 miles in 1:42:18 at a pace of 10:14 per mile. Of course April 3 was
cold and that was 3 miles shorter--different running conditions.
Twin Cities Marathon here we come! Wherever you are give a cheer for Erin and me in 3 weeks. You can
track our race online and via text alerts on October 9.

Me. Really sweaty. I already ate one of those bananas and I'm gonna eat another as soon as I take this selfie. |

Finisher medal. Fully earned. |

Post-race scene between the Washington Monument and the new Museum of African American History. |
Post race I pedaled a bikeshare home, took a long shower, ate the pear-blackberry crisp I made last night and then collapsed for a nap until 2 pm.
In other fun, Elise helped me take a big load of donations to Goodwill yesterday and we stopped at the Air Force Memorial on the way home. (It's been an Air Force weekend I guess.) I can see it in the distance from my windows, but I've never looked at it up close.
