It's going to be interesting to have a front row seat to this whole event. I put in my 4 hours this morning to complete an orderly shutdown and that's it. I will not be checking my work email or anything else until we are called back to work.
What do you do for a shutdown? So far I stopped at the farmers market and got some more delicious apples from Twin Springs Fruit Farm. This one is a Suncrisp.
It has a great tangy flavor and nice yellow flesh. I consider this a teaser for my favorite Goldrush apples.
Next I'm going to go for a bike ride and see what else I see around town. The Smithsonian museums are all closed of course. Arlington Cemetery is open because it is run by the military. If this lasts a while I will go watch the opening of the Supreme Court on October 7. After that I have no excuse to put off house cleaning any longer. I hope it doesn't last long enough to sort all my boxes--that could take a while because I put it off a lot.
